We understand that the PayPal interface may be confusing when paying with a credit or debit card and hope the following steps will be helpful.
- Click on “Proceed to PayPal.”
- If a PayPal account of yours is recognized, select your credit or debit card from the options. If your card is not available, click on ‘add debit or credit card’ and add the necessary information. (You may opt to delete this information from your PayPal account after you have completed the transaction, for instance if you are purchasing on behalf of an organization rather than yourself.)
Alternatively, you can pay via PayPal as a ‘guest’. This requires you to prevent the PayPal interface from recognizing your account.
- Using your computer (not a phone app) log in to your PayPal account.
- Click on the ‘gear’ or ’settings’ on the top right.
- Click on the ’Security’ tab near the top left.
- Click on “Manage Logins.” PayPal will show a list of devices that it recognizes.
- Remove the device you are using so that PayPal no longer recognizes it.
- Return to the shopping cart and click on “Proceed to PayPal” again. PayPal will request your email or phone number. Enter an email address that is ’NOT’ associated with any PayPal account but that is genuine and allows you to check emails, as this address is where you will receive your receipt and all communications about your purchase. (If you enter the email address associated with your PayPal account, PayPal will re-introduce your device as a recognizable one and return you to your own account. If you enter an address associated with another account, PayPal will prompt you to log in to that account). After you enter an email address not associated with a PayPal account, Pay Pal will display a form to fill out.
- At the bottom of this form there is a switch that says “Create my PayPal account for Purchase Protection on eligible purchases.” Turn that switch OFF, and the button below it will change from “Create Account & Pay Now” to “Pay Now as Guest.”
- Fill out the form, including your credit or debit card information, and pay as a guest. Your card information will not be saved by PayPal.
If you are experiencing further inconveniences in attempting to use your credit or debit card, please let us know via the Contact Form.
Sincerely,
Omar Haddad
